Global Youth Service Day

Global Youth Service Day is the largest service event in the world! Established in 1988, GYSD celebrates and mobilizes the millions of young people who improve their communities each and every day of the year through service.

Bloomington's 4th GYSD will be on April 15, 2016, and is organized by the Monroe County Youth Council, with support from the Asset Building Coalition, the Bloomington Volunteer Network, and United Way of Monroe County. For this year's GYSD, 250 high school students will spend the day volunteering at various projects in the community, focused on issues like poverty, hunger, and literacy. Monroe County Youth Council members are working hard now to plan the service projects.  Returning this year is a satellite project with IU undergraduates and middle school students, hosted by the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance and the Civic Leaders Living and Learning Center. In total, we're so excited to have hundreds of youth in our community participating in a collective day of service!

If you're a teen interested in volunteering or serving on the planning committee, contact mcyouthcouncil@gmail.com or read more at the GYSD Monroe County website.
