SNAP, formerly known as “food stamps”, is a government program that gives households money to buy food. Each state runs its own program and uses electronic benefits cards (similar to a debit card) to distribute funds. In Indiana, the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) is responsible for ensuring that federal regulations are initially implemented and consistently applied in each county.
