Wanna see if you can handle the hottest bowl of chili? Enter the "Some Like It Hot" Chili Eating Contest.

 

On Saturday, January 11, as part of the inaugural Freezefest, United Way is hosting a Chilly Cook-Off featuring delicious chili prepared and served by community members. Stop by The Mill downtown to warm up in our Winter Wonderland and grab some chili! Tickets to enjoy generous samples are only $10 with all proceeds benefitting United Way of Monroe County.
 
Calling all cooks! From novice and seasoned home cooks to professional chef -- show us what you've got! Put your recipe to the test and share your chili with the community. Showcase your skills while competing to make the best chili in town at the Chilly Cook-Off!

All attendees are invited to see just how hot they can go by entering the "Some Like It Hot" Chili Eating Contest.
 
Freezefest is a community winter celebration put together by the Cook Group, Hanapin Marketing, Visit Bloomington and other community organizations taking place January 6-11, 2020 featuring world-class ice carvers, sled races, and a full lineup of winter activities. Stay updated on information for the festival here.
 
 
 

 

Save the Date

When: Saturday, January 11, 2019, 11 am - 2 pm 

Where: The Mill (642 N Madison St, across from Upland Brewing). Enter through the lower doors, near the southwest corner of the building.
 
 
 
  • Contestants are responsible to submit a contestant entry form and review the full guidelines.
  • Contestant must prepare 2 gallons of chili (2 regular crock pots) using their own selected recipe and ingredients.
  • Chili must be brought to event fully heated and kept in crock pot or other warming container.
  • Contestants are welcome to decorate their serving table in the Winter Wonderland theme.
  • In addition to attending the event, cooks must attend a Cook's Meeting to review Food Safety Guidelines on Thursday, December 19 at 5:30 p.m at United Way (431 S College Ave.)
  • Sign up today - space is limited to 20 chefs.
