Helping More Families Get Ready for Kindergarten

“The Kindergarten calendars are filled with so many wonderful suggestions for ways caregivers can help young children develop their early literacy skills,” says Lisa Champelli, a children’s strategist at Monroe County Public Library.

Every year, United Way gives out “Get Ready for Kindergarten” calendars to parents and caregivers through community organizations, local schools, and public libraries. Demand for these calendars has been so high that United Way is seeking sponsors to bring this important learning tool and family resource to thousands more!

Each month has an educational theme with correlated, specific activities, and each day has fun and easy learning activities parents can do with their children.

Last year, over 1,000 calendars were given to families in Monroe, Owen, and Greene counties. This year, the goal is reach 3,000-5,000 families!
