What is the Young Leaders Society? The Young Leaders Society is designed for those individuals and couples under the age of 40 who contribute at least $500 to the Community Care Fund. These leaders are demonstrating an early commitment to United Way and their community. Young Leaders are invited to consider membership in the Vanguard at the Silver Level ($1,000-$2,499), Gold Level ($2,500- $4,999), Platinum Level ($5,000-$9,999), or Benjamin Harrison Level ($10,000 and up). How are Young Leader Society gifts made to United Way? Young Leaders use the standard United Way campaign pledge form and may use any of the methods United Way offers to make their gift. Contributions can be made through payroll deduction, direct billing, a one-time cash payment or through the donation of stocks. When the donor checks the Young Leaders box on the pledge card, they will begin to receive information about the impact of their contribution and be invited to participate in YSL events. Can a Young Leaders contribution be designated to the United Way agency of the donor's choice? Although all donors are encouraged to give to the Community Care Fund in order to support the widest array of services in the community, any individual contribution can be designated to a United Way member agency or any eligible, local 501(c)(3) organization of the donor's choice. Donors can also designate gifts to United Ways in neighboring counties. How are Young Leaders recognized? Unless a Young Leader chooses to remain anonymous, gifts are recognized in our published materials, along with the donor's professional affiliation (optional). From time to time, United Way volunteers host special events to recognize the important role Young Leaders play in the general United Way campaign and our community.
