If You Lose Your Job

Losing a job can be a traumatic experience for you and your family.  There are plenty of resources available to help you:

  • The Indiana Department of Workforce Development, its WorkOne Centers and other government agencies "work together every day to assist unemployed Hoosiers and we provide a variety of services that you may be eligible to receive such as unemployment insurance benefits, state health insurance, housing assistance and more!"  Click here for a new, free guidebook (3 Mb, pdf)

  • Because your needs and schedule may change, United Way member agencies and our other community partners offer programs to assist with childcare, after-school activities, food, legal assistance, and many other services you may find you need.

  • 2-1-1 is a no-cost, confidential 24/7 phone service. From most locations in Monroe and Owen Counties, simply dial 2-1-1 to connect to an operator.  You can also access the local 2-1-1 information database online www.211infolink.org
