Meet Chris Hazel: Live United Spotlight

For Chris Hazel, United Way's Finance Director, “Living United” means giving what you can any way you can, whether it is through time, money, or simply helping a neighbor. She believes that we all have the ability to make an impact.

This year, Chris celebrates 10 years at United Way! Her favorite part of work is being able to see the difference United Way makes in the community and knowing that she is part of this impact. Every time she writes a check for a member agency or a partner initiative, she knows that someone is getting the help they need.

Chris began at United Way as a part-time office administrator before moving to her current position after 18 months. Today, Chris is indispensable at United Way - what she does touches every aspect of our community accomplishments.

Before coming to United Way 10 years ago, she was the chairperson for philanthropy at her previous job, where she organized volunteers and got to know many of the agencies she now works with daily.

Apart from United Way, Chris spends time with other organizations and causes, including the American Cancer Society, where she helps each year with their daffodil sales fundraiser, and the Girl Scouts of America, serving as a troop leader when her daughter was small. Finally, with two dogs and three cats (including her grand-cat) at home, she also cares deeply about animal welfare.

In her spare time, Chris loves to read and travel. Her favorite travel spot is Puerto Rico, and she is looking forward to a family trip to Aruba later this year!

And if you're looking for her outside of United Way, check the Clinique counter at Macy's, where she works part-time as a skincare consultant.

Thank you, Chris, for all that you've done in the community and for United Way. Happy 10th anniversary!
