United Way of Monroe County is the proud winner of the Golden Excellence in Media award from the Indiana Association of United Ways.  UWMC also took home five other communications awards at the annual conference in March 2007:

• first place for our campaign materials featuring stories about how donations impact the lives of Monroe County residents
• first place for our series of thank you note cards imprinted with individual stories of success
• first place for our 2005 annual report, which highlighted our 50 years of service to the community
• second place for our radio Public Service Announcements, featuring community leaders discussing the value of United Way
• second place for the invitation, power point presentation, and program for our 50th anniversary celebration in March 2006.

Executive Director Barry Lessow noted that these GEM awards were especially significant given the competition this year from other United Ways. "We are very proud of Communications Director Jennifer Hottell for creating materials that tell the story of how United Way makes lasting changes in people's lives. Jenn's work was recognized for design, content, efficiency and impact. This is an incredible achievement for our organization, and we are proud to have the 2007 GEM award in Monroe County."
