On
April 21, 2009, more than 500 people packed the Buskirk-Chumley
theater to honor the volunteers that assist in every aspect of
Monroe County life. Over 100 were nominated for awards, and
nine were recognized for their achievements.According to United
Way Executive Director Barry Lessow, "The Be More Awards event
is one way we can thank all the community members who Live
United by volunteering to assist individuals and agencies in our
area. We were thrilled to be involved in this evening and
congratulate all those nominated."
